I know how that is, I bring tons of crap and what I need is at home, Dave brings a small bag and always has the right tool.

The last time I was on the trail working on the truck Dave pulled a ? inch universal joint for my impact wrench out of that bag! He doesn?t even carry an impact wrench but he had the universal we needed! It drives me crazy. :bang:

If I put the tools I bring in that, it would roll my truck.

I have my stuff organized into a carpeted wooden box with hinged lid that I built into the cargo area. The inside is divided and lined with rubberized spray coating.

I'll have to snap a couple of pictures, but it works really nicely.

Thats really cool!! i was thinking of building something for the side since i have a custom sub box on one side i can make somethign to sit on top of it and fill up the whole side and then i will still have 70% of my trunk space left... but all i have now is a couple of tool boxes...

Anthony, after seeing that and an old thread on the other forum about an FJ build up I'm going to build mine.

About a month or two ago I put together a parts list and dimensions.

The only thing that I am going to do differently is have it be roll-out shelves so in case I have camping gear, etc on top of the box I can still get to the stuff.

I might PM you later asking about that rubberized coating, that stuff looks great.

Also question, how high is the box. The box I was looking at building was going to be 8-9 inches high.

Thanks for the comments! I've been wanting to do this for a while, so it's nice to have it done finally.

I hinged it halfway back, rather than hinging the whole top, so I could still open it with some stuff piled on top. But if I have a lot of stuff piled back there it's hard to open. I originally though about slide out drawers, but I decided to keep it simple.

The height is 6" but if I were to do it again, I'd probably make it 8"

I also have a sub box that will fit on top of it behind the seat, but I haven't put it in yet.

The rubber coating is just automotive undercoating actually. (If you use that, just give it plenty of time to dry before you touch it.)

The only thing I have left to do is bolt it through the floor. Not that I think it will actually be necessary, but you never know.
