Is it Ok to use oil with the friction modifier (LSD oil) in the front diff?

I will be changing my diff fluids before the run this weekend, and just wondering if I have to buy different for the LSD rear and the Open front, or if it can be the same.

Thanks!

I just read in the 05+'s you need different fluid weights for front and rear diffs. I have no idea for the 04 with LSD rear.

I know I am not much help!

Rear final drive oil
C200
3 3/8 pt
API GL-5 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Oil
(Part No. 999MP-DF200P) or equivalent *6

M226
4 1/4 pt
API GL-5 Synthetic 75W-140 Gear Oil
(Part No. 999MP-DF100P) or equivalent *6

Front final drive oil
1 3/4
API GL-5 Viscosity SAE 80W-90 *7

*6: See your NISSAN dealer for service for synthetic oil. ?SYNTHETIC OIL ONLY? is embossed on the M226 carrier cover.
*7: For hot climates, viscosity SAE 90 is suitable for ambient temperatures above 0? C (32? F).

Yeah, the owners manual states, "API GL-5, Viscosity SAE 80W-90 or 80W-90 LS for Limited Slip Differential (LSD) applications"

So they take the same weight oil, but it doesn't say if you can use the LSD stuff in the front.

Interesting. I am guessing that that the LS oil is synthetic. Which is what I have to run in my rear because of the locker. I don't see why not you cannot run it in the front.

I hate stupid s%$^ like this.

You can buy the regular oil, I always get synthetic, and then buy the LSD friction modifier to add to the rear. It comes in 4oz bottles and that's all you will need to add.

Anthony,
Unless you added the calmini LSD to the front diff, you dont need to add the specific friction modifier. That is only for the LSD rear end on the X.

Scott,
What do you use on your front diff with the ARB locker installed?
I need to change out my rear diff oil and will be using Redline stuff.
And after the new years I'll be installing the front ARB, just need to start prepping the parts needed.
