When opening the cap of the radiator, should you be able to see the liquid? Of not, how do you tell how high it is?

My truck over heats so easily, so I wanted to check this first.

Usually, in todays vehicles you check the fluid from the overflow...that semi-clear, white plastic jug that has a min/max; hot/cold mark on it. Cold, the antifreeze should be on the cold mark.

I have had trucks, however, that would never keep fluid in there for some reason, but never had any problems.

If you look in the radiator and can see the fins with no fluid on them, then you should add some.

Also, you should drain and replace you antifreeze about every two years.

I'll have to look for that jug.

I can see the fins with a little bit of fluid sitting on them, so it's hard to tell how full it is.

I'll have to learn how to drain it because I don't know. :)

If yours is anything like the first gen X's, it's a PITA. Last time I just had the dealer do it because you have to drain in three separate areas and then get rid of the old antifreeze. I am always worried about doing that at home because I know I will spill some and then Dagger will go blind.
