A good reminder that we are responsible for the actions of everyone who wheels with us. The guys who did this belonged to some FJ groups/clubs & now they are taking heat for the actions of a rogue few.

Very True we are all part of the wheeling family and any actions good or bad are reflected on all of us.

Its nice to see him take the responsibility for what he did, but completely childish to try and call out the people who do the same things, like spilling oil and leaving trash.

Hes right, the dumping and spilling is shitty to do out there too, but it isn't any less harmful to draw all over the rocks that are there. Trash and damage are trash and damage. To be honest, I would rather see a handful of beer cans than someone having drawn all over the rocks. Beer cans are easier to clean than those rocks are going to be. Even taking soap and water to those rocks can cause more damage (soaps and cleansers are often harmful to the plants and any wildlife that eats said plants, so that sharpie mess is more damaging than bottles). So if he wants to throw out how harmful spills are, he might want to take a step back and realize that a simple drawing can be just as harmful (even if in a smaller scale).

We are all responsible for helping keep the trails we ride on in as much of an untouched and undamaged state as possible. There is a reason that most of the time when we wheel (sans winter trips since I hate the cold) Matt and I bring trash bags for more than just our trash. When we are stopped for whatever reason or really slow moving for a harder obstacle, we do pick up shit left behind by other people.

While it is good that he admitted responsibility for having done it, trying to pull other people into it is stupid.

I'm glad that we, as a club, (at least I can say the northern area since I rarely wheel with anyone outside our small area) take care of the trails and we do treat lightly. Hopefully people learn from both their mistakes and the mistakes of others so that things like this don't happen anymore.

Treading lightly is pretty important in the midwestern lands. Out on our side of the country it's green enough that you can squish a frog and nature probably wouldn't blink (not that we should be intentionally squishing frogs with our rigs), but roll over the wrong brush in Utah and the effect on that tiny patch could last for years.
