I am looking at hitches for my sexy ride and I have a 12 S...if I want to set up wiring for me to trailer my bike, it keeps talking about feeding into it from the driver side under the bumper....I dont have the "tow package" - so - because I don't do things that can electrocute me in any way - is this something that I have to get a random place to wire it in from the electrical box or the engine compartment or something or is there really something under the bumper to feed into? I don't want to remove my bumper if I don't have to.

Thanks! :?

I've heard U-Haul's are reputable for installing a hitch receiver and wiring harness.

2nd Gen has no harness to plug into near the rear bumper?

U-Haul. My 1st gen's tow bar/hitch had been installed at a U-Haul & it did just fine.

The 2nd gen has a kit that is pretty easy. The wires are run for you. You just click some junction and relays together and under the passenger foot panel (near the fuse box) you have link it in. The hardest part was getting the foot panel off.

Oh.. here.

I believe all the available xterra hitches are class 3 included the stock one which. Class 3 is generally rates at or above the 5000lbs limit on the X. If you are talking aftermarket bumper with a hitch, none of them are actually rated as far as I know but most of them appear to stand up to towing. The stock bumper without a hitch will tow nothing...

yeah I found one that is class 3 that is somewhat hidden but it looks sharp. I would rather get my snorkel and winch and rockers than a new bumper if not needed.....

All my trucks have come with hitches so this is the first time I am having to do something like this.

I’m wondering if you know/care about the “Motorcycling” section of this board.
It might be cool to try and revive it by posting a picture or two of your Duce with some info…
Maybe we could get another “NEXterra Bike Meet” together in the spring? Meet at a halfway point?
*end thread hi-jack*

That's a great idea! Would love to do some two wheel therapy with some fellow comrades. I will have to get some pics because my phone dumped and I lost all my pics :|

I am always up for a bike ride. It has been a few years since the last NEXterra bike run.

Yep. That was a good run. I am thinking that for the next run, maybe up to the Catskills, around Hunter Mountain, Phonecia, Woodstock, etc.
