Hello all got a ? I have a 2005 x with off road package 89000 miles pass side rear axle seal is leaking I did it a year ago at dealer leaking again I believe I have a axle shaft with a slight bend in it from a accident so I want to change the shaft and seal and bearing other than the dealer or junkyard where can I get a axle shaft and next big ? Is I want to learn how to do it anyone interested in guiding me in my driveway ?i live in New Bedford mass plz help me !

Wow, that's a hell of a job!

The Frontier also uses M226 rear axles (if you're in the market for the whole shebang, now would be an excellent time to do an spring-over-axle swap/lift!) so you could potentially source a shaft from one of those. Titans have M226s as well but their shafts might be different. I don't know who if anybody in MA makes axle shafts but if it came down to it, you could bring the original in and have a new one made.

Now, I've never swapped a shaft before, but this video seems to make it relatively straightforward:

Disassemble, don't lose anything, replace what needs to be replaced, remember what order everything goes back in, torque to spec, at least that's how it seems to me. But don't take my word for it.

That video seems to be showing the front axle - I thought the issue was with the rear.

I recently replaced one of my front half shafts on my 1st gen... it took me awhile but it's pretty straight forward. Have no clue about the rear though.
