Was reading up over at
NissanHelp.com and found
this article. Briefly to summarize there were some bad transmission coolers causing antifreeze and tran fluid to mix and fokked up the tranny seals.

I posted the whole story under my post on a front end vibration. However, in a nutshell: My 05 Xterra with 107,000 miles on it had the transmission cooler fail inside the radiator allowing engine coolant to enter the transmission effectively destroying all the seals the bands, clutches, valve body, and torque converter! so far I am out $3,500.00, not counting the rental car! Xterra owners beware! I do not take my Xterra Off-Road, I do not abuse it and it has been to the dealer for the scheduled maintenaces.
I have contacted Nissan and am waiting for the regional service rep. to contact me. I do not feel even with the mileage the radiator should have failed in three years.
Stay Tunned!
Some of the moderators over there are Nissan techs (like cyclemut was) and this appears to be happening more often now to the 2005 model year. Seems like a tranny fluid and antifreeze should be checked now more regularly.
