Post subject: 07 Block Heater per Owner's Manual? Posted: Fri Nov 02, 2007 7:58 pm |

Purchased 07 OR Xterra 5/07 @ Saratoga Nissan; part of deal-received "we owe" form for engine block heater as described on pg 5-35 (or thereabouts)
in 07 owner's manual - dealer agreed to acquire and install. am now being told by dealer that Nissan doesn't make block heater...and yet they explain how to use it in their manual!
To be fair, parts guy @ Saratoga (Mike) has called-claims can't find ANYone who makes freeze plug heater for Xterra...
Appreciate any info/assistance/suggestions; want the damn heater NISSAN explains the workings of in their owner's manual...
Excelsior, and thanks.

I think they are only available through Nissan of Canada... (and are only available on xterras purchased in Canada I believe)
But they do exist, [url=http://www.nissanpartspeople.com/nissan_engine_block_heater.html]this one is for 00-04 models

excerpt from the Factory Service Manual...
So I think the only way to get it would be for Saratoga Nissan to call a Canadian dealer and have them ship it to them.

Mr. A/MC,
Appreciate the quick response.
No listing @ site for newer than 04s; also no Canada only disclaimer in owner's manual. Dealer said they'd pay for/install as part of purchase...wonder if they're smart enough to order from Canadian dealership? Does not inspire confidence in the competence of Nissan Corporate OR the local dealer; we're not talking a cure for cancer here - just installing a $35 freeze plug heater that can be bought for damn near every other vehicle on the road...
Excelsior.
Anyone else out there in the ether have any other ideas...?

Mr. A,
Pg # in shop manual (so I can show them what's printed in their own manual) and is manual for 07 Xterra? Dlr claims part discontinued
due to low sales...
Excelsior.

Mr A. (and anyone else looking to install Xterra block heater):
Thanks to forum and Cite Nissan of Montreal, here are the two part numbers any Nissan dealer can use to order the heater and cord...
Engine block heater: 11001-6P700
Heater cord: 24076-EC300
Appx price (in Canada, check your dealer for Ahmurican money...):
$71 and change...
Spending a few cents a night when temp below zero beats
a) waiting for engine to warm up, and
b) replacing the battery too often...also saves wear and tear on batt, starter, and engine...warm oil flows more easily...
Saratoga Nissan has ordered above parts and will be installing; will post
results on forum when weather cold enough to plug sucker in...
