besides ARB, and the shaft changeover to 31 splines, this was found on facebook.
if i'm a bit late, and this is a repost, my apologies.

http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_i ... 735&ref=nf

i made the call, and the gentleman i talked with explained that they make one for the 31 splines now, but not the 33.
he then got into asking me how many guys are using their xterras off road, and if there was a need to have a locker due to the prototyping costs and so forth...

i told him that our only option for aftermarket lockers is ARB, unless axle shafts are swapped out or a lincoln locker is used... ( ugh ) i told him it would be nice to put a set of lockers in front and rear for the cost of the ARB rear and compressor setup.

maybe if they broadsided with an onslaught of calls or emails, then things will happen.

be well.

Powertrax Lockright lockers are coming out with a 33 spline locker shortly.
It was in development last I heard.

personally, I'm not a fan of the lock-right on the street. It clicks every time you turn and it rachets around corners.
Sometimes when driving straight and hitting a pothole it will lock and unlock and get a little squirrely.

I know this because I threw one in my mustang since it was so cheap at the time and required no gear set up. Just pull the spider gears (on an open carrier) and drop in the lockright.

I only kept it in the mustang for about 6 months before swapping out the entire axle for a posi one with 3.73 gears. Much more street friendly.

If you already have a stock LSD diff in your truck, you can repack the clutch discs and add a few more to tighten it up.
There is a happy medium between a full spool and a loose LSD.
And the cost is just the clutch discs and some fluid and your time to pull the third member.

Definitely the cheapest alternative.
The best option is still the ARB.

yeah the "locker swerve" is kind of interesting. i get it with my detroit too. it will jerk the truck around just by shifting sometimes.

It definitely will scare the shit out of you if you're going 70mph+ on a parkway with cars on both sides of you and it decides to engaged or disengaged after you hit a pothole.

I can't imagine how people run them in their front axles and drive it on the street.

i have to admit when i purchased my Xterra i was under the impression that they all came through with lsd's. the day i got it i was like, " damn this is one weak lsd.. " whups.
well nooblet me learned a month after finding the OG nexterra board that this was not the case.

i did get blessed with the 4.9's though.
just an open diff.
