i busted a brandy new CV shaft the other day, and arranged to have it replaced for free. my question is will it be ok to run the truck for a few days without a CV in it, or am i going to destroy my bearings?

you will be fine max, no problem at all running without cv shaft. just put something like a rag or tape to cover the open hole in the rear of the knuckle so dirt and debris do not enter.
