been having shifting problems that have progressively gotten worse. the clutch pedal has not been returning to the top after releasing. now the vehicle won't let me use 1st gear with out it jumping out, so i have to start in second. i have checked the clutch master cylinder, it is full, fluid it not contaminated. checked slave cylinder it is not leaking. the clutch fork is not showing any damage at all. I taken it to a shop and they told me everything it could be (clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch, or a transmission) I have looked at the slave cylinder while depressing the clutch and it is onl;y disengaging about half the length of the clutch fork hole on the trans. How much play should a 2001 have from start the extended?

0.27 - 0.55 in play in the pedal

8.94 - 9.33 in pedal height: Measured from surface of dash lower panel to pedal pad.

0.004 - 0.039 in Clearance ?C? between pedal stopper bracket and clutch pedal position
switch (with clutch pedal fully depressed

I would try bleeding the clutch again with fresh fluid.

Sounds likely that the throwout bearing is worn. How many miles? It may be time for a new clutch.

when you push the pedal to the floor, you only have to raise it half an inch and the truck engages. the pedal falls half way down from where it was. i am needing to know the measurements for the clutch fork movement on the slave cylinder.
