Post subject: All Season Tire Recommendation?
PostPosted: Sat Jul 14, 2007 10:41 am
Time for new tires. I've got 265/70R16's. I'd like to get something all season, that will still let me have some fun in the mud. Any suggestions?

I used the firestone destination A/T for a couple of years and liked them.

X2 Although now I have MT's... those AT's were awesome in snow and highway, and most dirt / mud. I'd recommend them to anyone!!!

Well... I got some BFG ATko's over the summer and I love them. I went and rode around the powerlines with some Jeeps east of Cortland a bit. Only did "minor" damage in the process! I finally put some photos up...

Another option, which I purchased, are Toyo Open Country tires (with a 10 ply for me). My future brother in-law (shop owner) said the BFG's were a 20 year old tread that was not worth the money and had recommended these (along with his tire guy who was on speaker at time of ordering).

About $40 less per tire so saving $160 was somewhat a key issue for myself. I have only been on two runs, so not alot of offroad use on them but I'm pretty satisfied. On the BTSR3 where everyone was having problems on the return trip, I just seemed to fly over it (Thanks Bklyn.X for the spotting). But that might have just been my viewing on how everyone was getting stuck and took a different line but only had to go at it once.

The little ridge in the 5th photo was actually pretty steep. Lacking any sort of lift, I cracked the very lowest part of the plastic grill in front. Hardly noticable... I also got a "racing stripe" down the drivers side courtesy of some sticks along the trail, but you can only see it in the right light.
