 Post subject: Dual Exhaust
PostPosted: Tue Mar 20, 2007 7:35 pm
Does anyone know if it's possible to run dual exhaust on an Xterra. with how the layout of the exhaust is there is not much room from both Cats, to the muffler, over the axle, and to the bumper. And we all know how Ny state inspections are now with the emmisions testing I really dont want to have problems with my inspection every year. I currently have a single pipe and a flowmaster muffler and both Cats. If anyone knows or seen this done please respond back.
John

Welcome to UNYX!

I'm not sure if Gene's is a tru dual, however. I think it's a single inlet, dual out.

I have a cat-back dual exhaust. But that's only due to not having the money at the time.

But running a true dual exhaust system is very easily done. When I was at the shop having mine done.We looked and there's pleanty of room for a dual set up from the front.

You would have to get pipping bent to replace the OEM y-pipe and mount the dual cans in the same spot as the OEM muffler.
But you'd have to angle them, but that's not a problem with a smaller can like a Flomaster or a Magnaflow. The stock can is frigin huge.

Someday when I get the SLR headers I'll re-do it and run it true duals all the way back.

I plan on adding headers and dual exhaust to mine,I'd like to do it this year...but it's looking to be in my "mod" budget for 2008 at this moment in time.
