Hey all, I grossly overfilled my tranny this past week b4 the last run. As a result I pourin atf all over the X and the road. I wish to drain out the excess but need to know how many qts the torque converter cavity holds so i can pour accordingly. Does anyone know?
I was told 4-5 qts. But this is with the normal 9qts in the tranny. I have somewhere between 12-14qts in there. And if i drain it, i need to know how much to replace. Doing it little by little will take way to long, so id like to get that suggestion out of the way.

I think the question is "how much will be left in the torque converter after draining the fluid?"
so he can just add enough to refill to the requisite amount.

No one knows the answer to that question. It's like a tootsie pop. It depends. But it can't be too much.
I always have mine pumped out and refilled. It's the only right way to do it.
