After Vermont overland I discovered my passenger front axle was leaking some gear oil. Just pulled the axle to replace the seal but the seal is fine. the axle however has about a half millimeter of in and out play after getting the c clip seated. Is this normal or is it supposed to have no play like the driver's side? Alternatively is there some trick to seat the axle correctly?

A little play seems normal, but leaking is not. I'd check the axle seal again,I've had a few with small slits that leaked. No trick I know of either, that side is always a pain for me.

I did my front axle seals in a day, pretty easy.

I did my hubs too while I had everything apart.

Popin the axles back in can be a pain so get a big deadblow and a 2x4.
