My front passanger bearing blew today. I started taking everything apart an i cant get the Rotor and hub off the spindle. It appears the outter bearing is frozen to the spndle. I tried some heat and didnt budge. typically it falls out easly after you take out the lock nut but this time it is on solid and i cant get it off.

Maybe ill try more heat but i just got a torch for plumbing i might need bigget torch. Should i go to a mechanic? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Get a Map gas torch. They are hotter than propane. Inexpensive and should do the job.

Did it sound like grinding twisting metal? Cause that happened to me. Cant remember how we got it off but i remember spindle was chewed up so mixxali4 just smoothed it out w a grinder.

Maybe... Slide hammer? U can rent it from Autozones. If it dont budge by hand, how bout tie it to the back of the Tundra ;)

Yeah the MAP torch is the one i have / tried with no success.

When I talked to Ernie and he suggested the slide hammer as well, so I'll trie that next.

After that Ernie suggested maybe drilling the bearing to weaken it then hit it with a chisel which is my last chance before buying another knuckle/spindle assembly

I got to wait until it gets warmer again on the weekend to attempt this again. Any more suggestions are appreciated as well. Thanks Ernie, Justin, and Scott for the ideas.

No doubt. My prob was the rear bearing. The whole hub/rotor came off no prob but that last bearing was jammed on the spindle. Let us know how it goes.

UPDATE: So i bought a used knuckle and spindle from the junkyard ($45) which came with the hub and everything which was pretty good deal.

I ended up just changing out the whole assembly, I also did some additional maintenance to both sides: changed out rotors and UCA ball joints as well as greased all fittings, changed all bearings and races. So truck is back together and and all new after somewhere around 8 hours of work (including dinner and beer breaks). Im happy and now ready for the next event

Thanks guys for the help.

I had one like that on a chevy pickup, ended up pulling the whole knuckle and spent like 3 hours with it on a press trying to get the thing out...
