ok... my oil lamp is on but not on..

2003 xterra 185k

Starting the car the oil lamp light turned on but "ON" mor elik a light glow. In addition the green "SET" light was blinking a lot.and after driving 4 miles home carefully the oil light disappeared gradually.

Got home checked oil. its full. just changed the oil and filter about 3-4 weeks ago? with no issues.

10 minutes later i turned it on and the lamp was gone.

Recheck oil, no issues

10 minutes later the warm glow reappeared.

I have no idea what soever what is going on.... please some insight please
is it safe to drive? or should i just take it to the mechanic?

One thing, doubt it is the issue is that i just filled the car up with gas 2 miles before parking the car letting it sit for 30 min then restarting before the issues started to appear.

Did you hook it up to an OBD computer?

just hooked it up FYI there is no "check engine light"

got a P0328 code however..... I've had had that code for ever in the bacgkround
some bckgd info

For the past 18 months every 3-4 months i get a P0328 (knock) and P0456( small evap leak) ( actually get 2 where the 2nd p0456 shows it tried to clear it) code.

Took it to the mechanic he checked for exhaust leaks etc and found zero. the code was cleared. It showed up 3 weeks ago and I drove for 2 days on it and it disappeared on the 3rd day.

so I'm still in the dark and am loathe to drive it now.. because of the low glow of an engine light

Hmmm, ok. Whens the last time you told your X you loved her? Maybe she's just cryin oil tears lol.
Im all out bro, idk maybe unplug both terminals of the battery for a bit and cross fingers idk...

maybe oil pump? failure? switch sticking??

is that easy to do my self?

if not I may take it to the mechanic later this afternoon
