I noticed this a while back. I needed to change my upper ball joint so I took a couple of pictures;

Lower Arm Spindle (54419-VK80A) broken at the nut. F’n $21 bolt.
OK to drive ‘cause it’s still held in by the torsion bar on the other side but changing it any way. The bitch is that the TB and anchor need to come off to get to it. What a pain.
This is the original spindle.
Not looking for any help but I’ve never seen or heard of this happening. Seems odd, maybe it took a hit? Kind tucked away but not imposable.

You guys ever see this before?

Oh, you mean the bolt? I've never seen one break, but mine were pretty worn when I replaced the LCA's.

Yeah, the bolt. I just don't understand how that would break that way after so long.

I would be willing to bet the bushings are shot and that's why the bolt failed. Oh, those bushings are a barrel of laughs to replace.

Oh F that. I'm replacing the bolt and try and keep it greased enough to last until the fall when I'm hoping to be cutting all that crap out of the truck...
