just went out to my truck and my headlights are not working. high beams work, fog lights work, turn signals work..just no headlights.

not sure when they last worked, but i did just get a automatic car wash.

When you say the high beams work, but not the headlights, do you mean they work when you flash the highbeams?

My first thought is that in may be the switch on the stalk. There is a rotating connector in there that can go bad. Always check fuses, but it doesn't sound like that. Also, it could be the relay, which is under the hood, near the battery. They are marked pretty well. You could try replacing the relay. It's a lot less than a new switch. While I have never done it, you could do it yourself. I am sure it's a plug and play part but probably over $100.:(

By the way, I doubt the wash would have anything to do with it. I use a pressure washer all the time and wash my enging bay all the time with it and have yet to have a problem. You may have just jolted something loose while wheeling this weekend. Remove the relay cover and push in all the relays first. See if that works.

tried pushing on all the relays..did nothing. the headlight fuses are good. the switch thing sounds like a possibility, since all the other lights work.

i just called the dealership...they asked if i tried replacing the bulbs. i said, "i doubt its that simple..but i could be wrong". I'm bringing it in at 3pm for them to look at. Should be interesting...

Guess I should wash my engine compartment.

pull the bulbs and look at the filaments. If the lower one is "broken", then you need to replace the bulb.

it's better to be safe than sorry...it's kind of odd to have both low beams go at the same time.I had a olds cutlass back in the day and both low beams and all but one of the high beams blew,I had to drive home late one night with one high beam, our local law enforcement official was not very impressed and made sure I got home safely he let me go with out a ticket.

Yeah, the service manager told he had never seen that happen on a Nissan before. They also service Volvos there and he said its a common problem on them.

He was also very impressed with my truck. Loved that I had lifted it and moded it a bit. My mother-in-law was there at the same time and after I left she said he was still carrying on about my truck to the others there. Made me feel all cool!!

That is really odd.

By the way, you are cool. You own an Xterra.
