Howdy y’all.

So I’ve got an 08 that has had a bearing noise coming from the rear diff as long as I can remember. Just got new tires and I didn’t realize how bad the noise had actually gotten. Pretty much chalked up any noises and vibrations to the Duratracs I squeezed 75k out of.

When looking into it over the years I’ve seen potential of bad pinion and/or carrier bearings. I’ve also seen where some guys have done nothing about it and have gotten a full life out of it...

There’s no clanking noises as if there’s any broken gear teeth and there's never been an alarming amount of filings when I change the fluid.

Checking to see if anyone has come across this before I have it looked at.

TIA

C200 or M226? I'm only familiar with the M226.

Did you ever have this checked out? My 2012 does this in the winter, and goes completely away in the warmer months. From past experience, it's almost always one of the pinion bearings. If you don't see excessive play in the companion flange, I wouldn't worry about it. If it gets bad enough, it'll likely take out the pinion seal, and at that point you'll just know.

I also had a 2008 Frontier with major rear diff whine. It was like that until the day I traded it in.
