Hello All,

So I have notice that my brakes just don’t bite enough with all the additional weight from armor and front bumper. I also think my calibers aren’t what they used to be, so I wanted to see what others have done.

I was going to upgrades the lines to stainless which I here will help but was curious if people have upgraded the calibers or stuck with OEM?

As always appreciate any info

Mike

On the Frontier I have used the Power Stop drilled and slotted rotor and pad kits with good success. The camper and truck weighs 8100 lbs dry. With provisions and equipment I’m sure it’s over 9K. The only downside is the slots and holes will get clogged with mud offroad. Since the truck is mainly on pavement and regularly on beach sand, this is not an issue. Pad life is pretty short too. I’m getting a year to 18 months from a set. But you may very well do better than me.

I looked at one time for aftermarket calipers. I didn’t readily find any. Even the Power Stop calipers are just remanufactured and painted OEM parts. Short of going with Brembo or the like, I think you’re stuck with OEM calipers.

Mike a lot of times you can upgrade the pad material and rotors and get better braking .
stainless will add better pedal feel too..
as mike said there is always a trade off better stopping but less life

Thanks Ernie, I think I will certainly upgrade the lines, with that said I would assume it would be a smart call on my part to get the extended brakes too. I think nisstech offers a full package front an d read.
