Pretty much what I did too. Thought about the gasket too but most recommend sealant. So went with the Right Stuff sealant & it has worked well.

Same here. I used aerosol Right Stuff Grey. Worked great.

FYI regarding RTV - I don't know if this has been discussed much here, but Permatex states that their RTV sealants are not for use with gear oils due to attack by the EP additives. The only Permatex RTV product compatible with gears oils is the appropriately-named Permatex Gear Oil RTV Gasket Maker:
https://www.permatex.com/products/gaske ... ket-maker/

Now, I can't say that I have ever had a problem using Permatex Ultra Black or Ultra Grey, but I now have a tube of Permatex Gear Oil RTV in my collection.

Good find. I've used the Black before, and still see the rear diff is slightly moist at the bottom.

Prior to B2SR I resealed the rear diff because I had the same seepage. That was after a year of having the ARB covers.... I can't say if it was due to the RTV, my own sloppiness when installing it or just due to heavy offroad use.
Next time, I'll use the right gear oil RTV. Thanks for the info Jeff.

Scott & I are both using Lubelocker gaskets. I have had zero problems with mine, but Scott experienced the bolts loosening a little and some slight weepage.

I'm working toward a Dynatrac Prorock 44 front axle for the Rubicon, and no Lubelocker is available for it, so I'll definitely be using the Gear Oil RTV.

Back when I had my Frontier, I used the Mag-hytec gasket with much success, but I never wheeled it. The only problem with pre-cut gaskets is that they have no compliance, whereas silicone sealants have an amount of stretch to them to accommodate movement.

Uh oh, we have two engineers in here now. pirate2

The Lubelocker gaskets have silicone beads on each side for sealing:

Yeah, it appears that LubeLocker manufactures the one that Mag-hytec specifically sells for the Titan diff covers. (D44)

If you follow this link http://www.lubelocker.com/inventory/llr-d044-lubelocker-dana-44 it says:

Quote:
This gasket is designed or your Dana 44 differential cover. Does not fit Dana 44/226 or 44A. Will not fit Nissan Titan Dana 44 differential covers

Can any of you confirm what the part number is and where you purchased it from? The Mag-Hytec site wants $20 shipping on top of what seems to be a $7 premium, There's no effing way I'm paying $20 for shipping something I can ship for $5....

The regular Dana 44 covers or gaskets will not work on our diffs. Nissan, for some reason made their Dana 44 diff with 12 bolts. All others that I have seen have 10 bolts.

Mc-Terra,

That shipping quote may only be a default. When I bought my gasket2/3 yrs ago, I believe they only charged me around $3.50 shipping and sent it in a heavy envelope. I was expecting the $20 charge so it was a nice surprise. Call or drop them a line and see if they aren't a lot more reasonable on the shipping then listed.

Scott

When I bought mine, they bent me over on shipping as well. It came in a giant box with the gasket floating around in it.

MC-terra, Lubelocker manufactures it specifically FOR Mag-Hytec. As far as I know, they're the only place you can get the right gasket.

See here for instructions on cheaper shipping:

Thanks for the info guys, I just ordered it.

I remember reading that the torque spec'ed on the gasket seemed to high, what is everyone tightening to?
