CB radio install opinions please!

Hey all, I'm going to be installing a CB radio this weekend and was hoping for some experienced feedback regarding radios mounted inside the center console.

Anyone here have theirs installed in there? I was primarily wondering if it muffles the audio a lot? Do you have to drive with the console open to hear it well?

Not sure I want to mount it in there (for the audio issue) or under the center stack at this point.

What model CB do you have?

Mounting inside the enclosed console will muffle the sound at best, worst you may not be able to hear anything.

if you wish to mount it in there it may have a jack for an external speaker that you could add and mount under the dash area.

It's a Uniden PRO520XL.

It does have a connection for an external speaker, I didn't think of that, but it might be a good idea. Thanks Ernie.

I have always used an external speaker, mounted with velcro to the up-right rod of the driver's headrest. Problem solved.
