Has anyone switched their radiator fan over to electric? I saw you can purchase an direct connect electric fan. Is this true? I don't know where this quick connect is located (my truck 2002). Thoughts??

That link looks like it’s a replacement for the OEM ac condenser fan not your engine powered radiator fan.
I'm not following your questions...

Can I replace my engine powered fan with electric? Might be stupid idea but on hot day's it is robbing the power from the engine while offroading so I was thinking of converting to electric.

Okay but not with the one you linked to. Like I said that's a replacement for your ac fan...plug in replacement.
You looking for a kit?
Ain't going to be no $50 deal...

best case is to have it linked through your temp switch
so if you forget to turn it on it will come on anyway.
or you can manually turn it on.
3 way switch
1, off totally when in water
2, on with temp override
3, on manually .
you would need a fan and relays and a 3 way switch and a temp switch.

the link you got there is for the OEM aux fan that comes with any 1st gen xterra or frontier... it is on when A/C turns on...

because the 1st gens with AC have a aux fan on the AC condenser you will need to use Puller fans.

to ditch the engine clutch fan you'll need something like this... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bci-95001/overview/

I added a secondary small 10" pusher on my A/C condenser that is operated by a in cab 3-way switch and/or by a thermo-couple sensor on the return line from the radiator.

In the summer on trails it would kick on but I could kill before water crossings...

on highways running the A/C + 2nd aux fan made the A/c meat locker cold.

also it would turn on 5-10 minutes after turning off the engine because the coolant temp keeps rising since the water pump shuts off..
