Nice, install should be fairly straightforward. Use a bottle jack to push down your leafpack to install shackles and then use it to line everything up. I didn't cut the bolt for drivers side UCA as others do,just disconnected the steering shaft.

Odd instruction, I never did anything well with a bottle of Jack.

I hear ya,but isn't it fun trying....

Parts are in, as well as the remote control for the winch. Wireless winch remote question, who many frequencies are there? If I hit my button will everyone's winch in 50 ft react? I'm planning on adding a power switch to the winch's power supply so mine won't react to other signals.

So much to do!

Wish me luck,
Scott

Lift Update

Scheduled to start the lift install tomorrow afternoon at Jeff's. I hope his Rubicon turns green with all the attention we're paying the X. May even find time to swap the Eagle-Eyes out for a pair of LED floods that will be more appropriate on the trail. The two 100 watt spots haven't proved very useful in the real New England world. I'll charge up the camera and hopefully find the time to snap a few.

OHHHH Yeah, well actually WD40's new rust killing penetrating spray. Hopefully it works as well (or better?). Impacts, 24" cheater bar and 2# ball-peen hammer are all packed. Still have to remember the bottle jack.

I'll let Scott tell you about all the details, but we installed the lift last night and his X is back on the road. I think it was around 7 hours start to finish working at a decent pace. Kind of a fun job I guess.

Tonight we will double-check our camber setting and adjust & set toe-in. We both just ran out of steam at about 10:30 last night. Sucks getting old.

As Jeff said, 6.5+ hours with few hiccups got her done!

A rear shot:

Quiz - How many upgrades/mods are in this photo?

And yes the plan is still to show her off in the dark - Nov. 8th!

Thanks Suresh, not sure I would have taken the skull if there was a plain option but since its there, contrast it baby! Need to paint it silver to match the rest of the badges, I didn't think it would show with the spare in front of it. :D

Scott

ps: Tony - thanks for the bottle jack trick, it was exactly what was needed to push the back end of the leaf springs down into the shackle without over stretching all the break lines and sensor wires.

Looking good and glad the tip helped.

I've just had her on paved roads so far, but she's riding very well without drive line vibrations. I was very pleased with the suspension travel during the instal and am really looking forward to getting her on some trails. Too bad it's hunting season, free time to wheel is tough.

A couple of more pictures of the mod: Starting with Jeff under the back end getting the bottle in position to push the back end of the spring down to the shackle.

Driver front with spacer in place and new UCA almost installed.

And just because, showing why owning an X is so right, Parking in the CT River or more accurately, trying to get the trailer in deep enough water to recover the boat.

New 8" drop hitch is assembled and ready to be used.

And tonight I got a lesson on doing an alignment in a private garage (Jeff's). Fun, and only took an hour and a half.
