Can anybody steer me in the right direction with this. My tranny just quit. The shop its at is asking 2k for rebuilt tranny. I just called a junkyard and got a price of 1500 for manual tranny and tcase. But I was reading online that I can use my existing tcase. Clutch from rugged rocks is gona run me 500. Def lookin to save money but at the same time while this situation presents itself I want to make the better upgrades to my rig. Installing a tranny is way above my skillset. If im gona pay over 2k might as well get what I want right? Does anyone know of a link, or a person who has done this before so I can gather list of parts and price this ish out?

I'm guessing you can't use the one from Curt's old truck?

In case you go with the manual tranny swap, I have a aftermarket clutch that Mike (Svendog) had given me some time back. Pick it up & it's yours. Can't remember what kind it is but certainly better than stock.
Will try to get a pic & send you tonight.

I found THIS document a guy made when he did his auto-to-manual conversion a pathfinder (same engine/drivetrain).

Are we going to do this in your driveway? We've never seen it done so we'd be winging it. A lot of work bro and IMHO not worth it.

TJ, who sometimes shows his face here, kind of did the opposite, swapping engines and keeping the trans. IIRC, there were some issues involving matching the tranny and engine becase one power train involved an automatic and the other a manual. I can't recall the details, other than he ran into some issues with the swap. If you have a manual and stay manual, you may not encounter what he ran into.
