Howdy Folks,

I have a 2007 X, and I've got the mod bug, I'll wanna start with a BL first and then some bigger tires(30-33in). Most of my daily driving is highway and have yet to do the trails, but I'm planning to change that.

I see a whole lot of good resouces (including the Excel file) on tips and how to's, but nothing for 2nd gens. Cant be that different...right?

I'll prolly just do a 2inch but depending on the work/cost I may spring for the 3 inch Lift. If i do the 3inch, Ill hold off on the spacer/shackes til I can over haul the entire suspension(UCA, LCA, Alcans, Bilsteins, yada yada). I like the products and customer supoort of 4x4parts.com, for the pucks and bolts, but if you have someone better for a BL, Im all ears.

Anyone have any tips, Links to Vids, know a good mechanic in the New England Area, have schematics, or do's and don'ts....

Thanks,
Boston City Guy with an X

Second gens have almost nothing in common with the first gen other than the body style. Even that is a little bigger than first gens.

The X comes with 31's. You can fit 33's (285/75 16) without a body lift, you may have to heat up the inner plastic fender and push it in some. This is known as the melt mod. You may get a little frame rub also at full turn in the front and some frame rub in the back at full stuff.

The 3" body lift is way more work than the 2". It takes most of the day with a couple people to do the 2".

PRG, Nisstech, Calmini, Rugged Rocks all offer stuff for the X. Calmini tends to rust up fairly quick with all the salt up there.

If you offer food and beverages some of the local forum members may help you install some of your mods.

NissTec has great customer service, I would highly recommend them (I think they only stock 2" kits but like Tom said, 3" can give you difficulties. I can't imagine how short the shifter gets with a 3" BL.).

Whereabouts in Boston? I'm in JP.

Yeah, so I can rule out 2 options, the 3in BL may just be too much of a pain and I'd rather get some kind of a lift than do the melt mod.

I still need to read or see a bit more info on 2nd gen BL's before an attempt is made but when I do, ill make sure to throughly document the process for you guys.

I give Nisstec a buzz and see if they'll send me their installation instructions.

I live in the Fenway/Longwood area, I was downtown for the marathon but luckily a few blocks away.

Cool - I'm often tooling around up and down Rt. 9, you'll probably spot me some day soon.

There are some excellent BL writeups on TNX:

I had pdf'd the instructions for the 2" BL. If i can locate the file, i will let you know.

It took me two whole days, but i took the time to repaint my skid plates and POR-15 my front suspension. Its a good time for a clean-up since you have most of the truck apart
