I was thinking of getting these shocks for the front of my truck instead of spacers since they offer 2.5" of lift. Has anyone used these? Does anyone think they are a bad idea? Thanks.

Here is the link to the product page on Bilstien

http://www.bilsteinus.com/products/lift ... table.html

4x4parts.com has a package with two front shocks (adjustable), two rear shocks (normal), and a shackle for $375.

https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/deluxe- ... -5853.html

They also have this kit with add a leaf instead of shackles for the same price. Which is a whole other question.

Do you plan on changing the springs yourself? If so be very careful compressing the springs and handling them.

AAL would be better for the rear if you will be hauling heavy loads or towing anything. Shackles tend to flatten springs and don't help with towing and hauling.

The 5100's are great shocks and you can adjust the amount of lift you get out of them.

Just play with a bit and see what you like before going in for an alignment.

I don't tow anything and my heaviest loads in the truck are stuff like camping gear and skis so I am not to worried about capacity. In this case which would be recommended shackles, blocks, or add a leaf? Really it is between shackles or block as I don't want to lift the rear more than the front which would be 2". Thanks for the help.

Blocks will lower the X being a spring under axle set up. Shackles are easy to install and cheap, the aal will help keep the springs from flattening out and improve handling in turns.

So I am getting that I could go with either the block or Shackle for the short term. Is there any benefit to the shackle over the block or vise versa? Instinctively I worry that there would be a downside to the block just since it is cheaper, which pushes me towards the shackle but hearing that a shackle will flatten my springs over time maybe the block is best.

Unless I haven't found one yet, every add a leaf I find would add 2.5" in the rear while I am limited to 2" in the front which would mean I would end up with even more of a rake. But with a shackle or block I can lift the back 1.5-2" which would atleast keep the rake the same or less. With the add a leaf I would have to go with atleast a 3" lift up front which would require a new coil over and upper control arms I believe. At that point I am looking $1000-$1500 correct?
