Ok, other than painting, I wasn't going to do anything to the 2002 Xterra, not much needs to be done, but I just couldn't deal with the stock stereo system; no XM, and having to deal with CD's again. I needed my i-Pod.

I installed an Alpine CDA-9851 head unit; MRP M450 power amp, with a Rockford Fosgate, dual 12" sub box. The thing friggin' rocks. I've never had, or needed, this much bass before; man is it fun.

Anyone in need of a stock, double-din, 6 CD changer?

I'll post some pics tomorrow. It's been a busy few days, work, shuttling kids around, you wait, Micah, it's only just beginning. Babies are easy compared to teenagers.:)

Cool, How's the V-power amp sound?

I bought a 4-channel V-power when they first came out and thought they sounded like crap so I sprung for the V-12 version. Glad I did, sounds so much better.

The V-power amp is just hooked up to the sub. What I did was hook up the system, installed the amp, and then went and auditioned subs. I tried everything: Alpine, Eclipes, JBL and RF. I really liked the smoothness of the RF. It's hard to tell about the amp, because I was trying out the subs.

I listen to a wide-variety of music. Years ago, being a music major and a music snob, I only listened to classical and jazz. Now I find a lot of different things I like, as long as it is well crafted. So, I have trouble finding a system to meet my needs. At times, I love to crank everything from Strauss to Rascal Flatts, to Frank Sinatra and Aerosmith. I love my music and cannot do without it. Then again, there are times when I only listen to NPR. I have never found the perfect stero, but still searching.:)

I've got a near perfect stereo setup for what I listen to. What is that you ask? EVERYTHING. Rock, Hip-hop, country, METAL, Acid Jazz, trance, classical, etc etc etc.

HU: Clarion ProAudio DXZ835MP (2 years old model)
Amps: JL Audio 250/1 Monoblock Subwoofer amp, Alpine MRT-240 speakers amp
Speakers: Kenwood 6.5" Components front/Clarion 6.5" coaxials rear
Subwoofer: Single 12" JL Audio 12W3-V2 in a 1.45 cu. ft sealed enclosure.

The thing I like best about the whole setup is that I have a SW volume control right on the face of the head unit, for those stoplight showdowns. And for a single 12" sub running in a rather small sealed box, it hits damn hard, and get's DAMN loud.
