My alternator died yesterday....

As you all know there is a direct bolt on upgrade from a quest/villager alternator.
Instead of having 80amps from the OEM alternator, the '99 to '02 quest or villager alternator has 125.
Usually sells $50 to $75 each.... found this place that sells them for $15 each

I bought 2 for $50 shipped....

here's where to get them!

Marshall's Auto Parts
1091 State Route 56 East, Circleville, OH, 43113
800-333-2104

sounds like a great deal.

I picked up a lifetime warranty Autozone 125amp alternator.
I swap it out every couple of oil changes to keep it fresh. LOL

Never had any issues with the exchanges..
A little bit of playground sand does wonders to those bearings. ;)

That's an good idea... can't beat the lifetime warranty.... when I was blowing CVs one after another, Autozone had given me some grief.... over my truck been an offroad truck & their exchange policy... you didn't run into that problem?

PS... your tires fit great on the truck! they fit better then my 33s on 10''rims!!! Really happy about it! Thx

Whenever I brought the mud-caked alternator for exchange they never really bothered to even test it.
They just grab a new one off the shelf and hand it on over. LOL

They only questioned me once on an extra dirty one and I said I was a contractor and it was from jobsites.. Never had an issue since. ;)

Glad the tires fit nicely.
I was worried you'd need to trim more than you expected.

POST PIX ALREADY!!! lol

Great find! The used ones tend to last better than the re-built ones because they don't seem to rebuild very well.

Definitely 100% true
Maybe that's why AZ never gave me a problem exchanging them.

On a side note..
Does anyone know which fuseible link to replace to use the full 125amps on the alternator?
Current fuseible link was 90 amps for the old alternator.
Not changing it would not allow you to use the full 125 amp capacity without popping the link.

I never replaced mine when I put in a Mean Green Alternator, which puts out a lot more than 125 amps and I have not had a problem in five years.

Not sure about that either.... As a kid, I had to replace my alternator due to a very power thirsty sound system... never changed a fuse & never blew an alternator again (on that vehicle) so I guess it was doing what it was supposed... Did you replace yours O1SalsaX?
Yes.... the pictures.... was supposed to have pics & vids "in 4wheeling action" but with the alternator issue... I will take & post some "parked in the driveway" next sunny day! sorry for the delay.

Scott.... Mean green is much better & reliable but a different budget!

These are good to have even just as a trail spare!

Cool!
Not too bad.... the yards I went to over here.... wanted between 50 & 75.... so if you get one at $16.... get a second as a trail spare! (better safe then sorry) ;-)

make sure it's from a Quest or Villager from 1999 to 2002
