. . . but I bought a Jeep. I went and traded my Xterra in, got a great trade in value for it too, and bought a 2017 Jeep Rubicon, Recon edition. Auto with 4.10 axle ratio front and rear, lockers front and rear. I know, I know . . . I'm a traitor, but I hope you guys will still let me hang. Anyway, here she is, well this is exactly what she looks like but it's not my actual jeep.

For what it's worth, I blame Suresh and Jeff  , Watching what their, mostly, stock jeeps could do . . . I broke.

From personal experience, the 4.10 gears will change your off-road life. I don't know about the auto but it makes a massive difference when not worrying as much about the clutch.

You guys got enough practice on my X  . This Jeep should do much better out of the gate. I still have some armor to buy for it but it's already got a head start with the cast diff covers, and rock sliders stock. I'm gonna wait a year or two to do a small lift and get some 35s.

I would have gotten a standard but these Two door Recons are starting to get rare new from what I could tell. There were plenty of 4 door Recons but they are too big for the woods.

You should be ashamed! It not because you bought a Jeep. Because you didn’t buy a four door. They aren’t too big for the woods.

What are you driving these days? Or is your rig back up and running?

Way I figured it was if I couldn't fit a 2x4 inside the cab like I could in my X, I might as well go smaller and be more nimble. I’m going to get a roof rack and call it a day.

You're gonna love it! So easy to squeeze the 2-door through the tight spots, and the auto trans is so easy to drive off-road. Armor it up and have fun!

If you want to 'break' it in, I've got Friday off from work and was thinking about doing either MaBell or another easier trail in the south central Mass. area. Let me know.

Are the Recon sliders mounted differently from the Rubicon X sliders? If not, they will flex enough to dent your rockers, but only if you hit them hard enough. Both my rockers are dented and the paint is cracked. But in defense of the stock sliders, I've hit them REALLY hard.

I would love to . . . There's no way my boss will let me off on short notice. Please don't let that stop you from hitting me up for the next time and thanks for the invite.

A really good question, One I will have to look into further.
