Can you recommend a replacement for that big maglite? Wide beam with some heft that could be used as a persuader if the need should arise…

Just ran across these, which I've heard about before.
3-6 D-CELL DROP-IN TO FIT MAGLITEXM-L DROP-IN MODULE FOR 3-4D MAGLITEBoth use a Cree LED; the first one uses an XP-G2, producing 325 lumens with alkaline batteries. The second one uses an XM=L2 LED, producing 700+ lumens on NiMH batteries.
If I bought the second one, I'd then have to buy these
batteries and this
charger.
UPDATE: I went ahead and bought this replacement:
3-6 D-CELL DROP-IN TO FIT MAGLITE. I shipped the light out to Malkoff Devices because the reflector needed to be cut down with this LED replacement. I could have done it myself OR bought a pre-cut one, but I called and asked if they could take care of it all for me. They said it wasn't a problem. They also installed one of these for me:
XCAPE CAP - BLACK - 2-6 D CELL. Good to have on the flashlight in case of an emergency.
The new LED is MUCH brighter, and has a very nice focused and wide beam. It feels like a different light now. I'm very impressed with it, and would recommend you get one for your Mag, Tom.
And it's currently on sale.
