Hi my name is randy, and I'm a repeat Xterra owner. I was looking for a small SUV back in 2000 that could handle NH winter ski trips, climbing trips, tow a small boat trailer, fit a family of 4, etc.
Besides the obvious marketing that seemed to be targeting me
The Ford Escape wan't out yet which was the other one that was coming out for the small, lower cost SUV slot. Took it for a test drive, and that was Xterra #1. Nine years later, I had a bigger boat to tow and the X' was all the Boston driving was starting to take it's toll, so it was tradein time. I initially hated that the X had "grown" but I got used to it. Now I just use it on weekends, mostly to get me to trailheads to go hiking/climbing/backpacking with a little off-roading thrown in to mix it up a bit.
