1) Remove front strut assembly
2) Disassemble with borrowed coil compressor
3) Attempt to reassemble with said tool
4) Fail miserably and repeatedly
5) Mourn an out of commission X until I can get the random assortment of parts to an actual mechanic for reassembly
6) Lose money

Stay tuned for next week's episode: How to drop a bumper and winch assembly on your head.

In the past I have ‘rented’ 2 sets of screw and hook type coil compressors from Advance Auto. I generally only can get 3 out of the 4 on a stock coil, but every little bit counts. Messing with the coil springs is scary business. Be careful!

I decided I'd rather be poor than dead. Local shop is reassembling.

Fine choice. I would have no regrets in the same position.

Sure beats the risk of death. Wise choice.

Damnit, wish I'd seen this earlier.

Anyone with coilovers or struts that need disassembly/rebuild, hit me up. I have a real spring compressor sitting in my basement, NO2 setup, gauge, coilover shaft clamp, etc.
