I've found and purchased a side shaft, thank you for looking.

If this sounds familiar its because I posted on TNX also:

I'm hoping to acquire a side shaft out of a blown R180A front diff, on the cheap. Not sure if these shafts ever fail in service but I'd like a shaft to investigate an upgraded material or to at least have a spare handy.

Please let me know what you have and what you want for it.

Best,
Scott

Eric,

Interesting, I'll have to give it a shot, I thought junk yards were the whole diff or nothing.

Sorry to clarify I got the whole front diff for my first gen but needed only the ring and pinion. But they were a lot cheaper then going on eBay or aftermarket parts

to answer your question yes the intermediate shafts have broken in the past.
so a spare is a good option to have.
again it would be the weakest link in the front diff after RCVs installed with an ARB.
