I'm thinking about investing into a pressure washer, nothing crazy. I forsee myself washing my truck many times after trips. And instead of wasting money at a car wash and going through sponges like I do poker chips I thought it might be a wise investment.

Anyone have any information on them? (Scott, I know you have one) Like what to look for? Brand? Makes? Models?

I got mine at Home Depot. It's a DeVillbiss, 2600psi with a 5hp Honda engine. Somewhat less than $400. It works great.

Can you get ones that just hook on like a hose to your house?

I bought one of those and it worked OK,but there wasn't much more pressure than what I have for a nozzle on my hose and it seemed to take longer.

If you don't want to use a sponge everytime, you need a good pressure washer. Even that has trouble getting off that PA, coal-dust mud. Also, I use mine all winter long to get the salt off the truck. That alone can save you money in the long run. You just need to be able to keep the PW in a space that will not freeze.

Gas. In order to generate that kind of power from electric, you would need 220.

maybe i should get one of these as well.. the people at the car wash over here give me dirty looks when i bring the x in for a bath.. i just give them that psychotic happy smile and get on my way :)

but i learned something new.. i thought all pressure washers did was hook up to the house hose and just push the water through harder.. yes.. im ok.. :)

ive got a 5hp honda washer from lowes. i think it might be 3500 PSI, but im not sure. i know it will put holes and take chunks out of my neighbors deck:haha:. it does a decent job on the truck to get most of the mud/dirt off. i still have to hand wash it afterwards for a good shine. its got a 4 stroke gas motor which is nice cause i dont have to mix it for 2 stroke. it just hooks up to the hose and blasts away. its got an intake hose which i usually put into a bucket of soapy water to power soap it like at the car wash. it works alot better if you can find a jug of car wash with a big enough hole to get the hose end/filter through. i also use it to was the siding on the house and clean the brick and the concrete slabs.

I got a cheapy electric from Lowes or Home Depot. I use it on the Jeep and around the house.

It is only like 1400 psi, but it hooks up to the garden hose and 110 in the garage. I use a sponge on the body, but it is a Jeep so that only takes like 10 extra minutes. It is quite and the pump only runs when you're spraying, unlike the gas washers.

Having any kind of pressure washer beats going to the carwash. I still have to blast the mud off from those tank traps at Pratt's Pond a few weeks ago.

I've got something similar to Davenport.

Karcher Electric 1400 PSI Pressure washer - Under $100

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=p ... lpage=none

I've never had any problems with it not getting everything off my truck. Just gotta use the right nozzle. Of course, there is always going to be that little film that the pressure washer alone can't get rid of, so you still have to wash the truck after the high-pressure rinse to get the big stuff off.

I just bought a 1500 PSI "Husky Power Washer" from Home Depot it was $99.99+ tax

I'm sure this will make the owner of the car wash in Marcy much happier now that I won't be washing my X there after wheeling anymore

You will save money in a very short period of time. I would use 5 to 6 dollars in quarters and still not get the mud off. Now I can pressure wash to my hearts content. I use mine all the time. Probably my most used tool.
