Sunday 3/13 we hit the Otis area trails hoping they would be dry enough to run already. They were wet but very run-able. Frost has worked a few more rocks up and quads have dug up the trail in places but over all it was super to be out again. Being lazy I didn't take still pictures while wheeling but did have the dash cam running the whole time. Here are a few screen shots from the run. Sorry they are mostly the butt end of a Jeep but it's the way it is.

Typical shot of a dryer section:

Taking a go-around to miss a deep mud bath:

Covering the rocks with water make picking the line a little more difficult:

There certainly was enough mud to have made Michelle happy:

And not surprising the normal rock obstacles were still there:

Being the first run we stopped a few times and gave the bow saws a workout but nothing serious. Then on the last leg we ran into this downed tree:

Now we could have turned around, another trail exit was just 5 min back up the trail, but hey, we're guys. Got to take on the challenge right? Hand saws, pry bar and a little winching, Success!!!

Well this picture is actually before we were done, but it makes a more dramatic shot:

We even stopped to try and grab me a supporting member photo:

Shots of Scott's XTerra from Sunday.

We did ok for the first run of the season. I bent my transmission x-member and gas tank skid a little, but that's a Jeep thing - you wouldn't understand. Repairs are currently underway.

Only ice we found:

Ernie,

If you have a street legal rig, we'd love to have you join us. The problem with legal roads is that you have to be registered and insured to legally drive them.

What state is that in?

I tried googling and found Falmouth, ma

Also is that area open to all insured rigs like Freetown?

Saturday night run is tentatively in the schedule. I'm not sure if I'll have the compressor in and wired up yet to try out my front locker but then again it isn't needed on our usual night trails. As normal, Jeff and I enjoy company, if anyone wants to join us. In the dark I'd recommend at least a stock Pro-4X equipped rig - 32s & a good bit of armor even if it's the Lt wt OEM stuff. Sliders are nice but Michelle has proved they are not needed on this trail a couple of times. Open diffs should be fine but the easy button at night is a security blanket. I don't think Mat had any issues on last yr's night run with his open diff. - Check out last year's adventures for pictures and stories that include the night run.

I hope to keep it to 6 rigs or under so we can get everyone through it easily to keep it fun for us. Start time is as early as we can get together in East Granby, CT after 6pm. Mass turnpike guys can meet up with us at the trail head and save 45 min or more of travel.

A night run is always fun - things look so much different in the dark.

PM me (Jeff) or Scott if you are interested. As Scott said, we are heading out of East Granby at about 6pm on Saturday 4/23/16. We should be at the trail head at around 6:30pm.

Just giving this a bump. Not sure if the lack of interest from the locals is poor timing or the post just fell off the stage too quickly. I did get an "Oooo" from Michelle but what about the rest?
