I have the privilege of living less than a mile from the oldest car collection in the country but I have never been. Supposedly they run a pretty decent Cars and Coffee once a month (unlike certain Quirky local dealerships) and the next one is this coming Saturday. Assuming I'm not working, I plan on attending. Anybody else care to show up in force? http://larzanderson.org/events/lawn-events/carscoffee/ |

It says it was rescheduled to September 10th, which is a Thursday??? (Probably because of bad weather this weekend.) I also plan on attending the Japanese lawn day in October with the Datsun. |

Maybe my bumper will be here for October... |

It's car show season and Larz Anderson has posted up the Lawn Days for this year! Thinking about registering the X for American Car and Truck (see if it qualifies), Extinct Cars (ditto) and Japanese Day. Anyone else down? http://larzanderson.org/2016-lawn-event-schedule/ I also probably wanna muddy up for one of these, so maybe a quick Freetown jaunt is also in order. |

Funny you mentioned this, I just looked up the dates today myself. I'll be going to the Japanese lawn day with my roadster. |

Fun Cars and Coffee! Jordan and Renee showed up in the Datsun too. I was one of the first twenty or so to show up, so I got a nice spot at the front: A pair of these Pinzgauers showed up! I gave the owner of the green one a card. The yellow one was 4x4. Don't get to see these muddy very often. Rally CRV! There were three GTs in the exotics/high rollers club. The Gulf GT40 is a repro. I had a great chat with the Delorean owner. Look how fucking clean that green plate is. I regret giving mine up to the man. Some gentleman's Miata with a homebrewed ergonomic steering wheel. Garbage. There were only three Nissans in the entire gathering of some hundred cars - me, Jordan's hunkajunk, and this fella. The museum had one of these on a wall. |

Went to the Microcar Classic today, definitely an event worth checking out at least once. Just a lawn full of itty bitty cars. Some of my favs: Citroen Ami 6. That roofline. Fun little Daihatsu van. Right-hand drive and unregistered. I forget what this was, but there was also a Citroen Mehari. Corbin Sparrow. The front was packed with at least eight blue top Optimas that I could see, owner said there were thirteen total. Pic doesn't do justice, it was a really nice green (not blue). This silly battle bus was parked on the street. It was a party bus on the inside. Back inside the show was this decidedly not-micro motorhome. I have no idea why it was there, but it was still neat. The owner was a retired engineer - he built the entire thing from three originals, and even developed his own composite for the interior flooring. The sink/counter was pneumatic and could extend an additional five feet into the cabin. Everything else was, naturally, slickly designed. Part of what makes the Microcar Classic special is that the vehicle owners are encouraged to take guests on a ride in their cars. We timed it just right (and let a little kid and his grampa skip ahead of us) and got to take a spin around the park in a Nissan S-Cargo! Thing was smooth as butter. It's a two-seat body-on-frame cargo van, roughly equivalent to our Grumman LLVs (the old USPS trucks). Only 8000 were produced over two years, making it VehiCROSS-rare. Based on the Nissan Sunny platform, which is a distant ancestor of the Frontier. So that was neat. I'll be missing next weekend's Cars and Coffee, but there will be another at the end of August. I'm going to see if I can get the X into American Day later this month, too. |

Japanese Car day is Sunday October 16th this year. I'll be making a long pilgrimage down from my new house in the Datsun (no highways). |

Next Cars and Coffee is on August 27th! Glad the GG run is this weekend so I can show up properly muddy. Last Cars and Coffee of the season will be October 1st. |

Okay, can someone give me some free money so I can have my weekends back? Missing out on this one too. |
