We'll be leaving East Granby, CT about 8:30 am and at the trail head airing down at maybe 9:15. If anyone is interested in joining up you're definitely welcome. It's your vehicle but I'd recommend at least a locker and factory skids. Pictures of our previous run are attached to my earlier post.

Where are these trails? I just did a quick search for OHV tasks in Otis, MA and all I see are trails for motorcycles and ATV's.

Are these public or private?

They are public roads in total disrepair. As long as we stay on the roads in registered vehicles we are legal. MDC patrols the area and we make sure we stay on the public roads. It's too bad the other trails look like fun.

Chris, sounds good.

... I hate getting up early on weekends, actually I just hate waking up early... anyways...

Scott - how long do these unmaintained roads typically take to wheel?

Also, based on the color coded rating system, what would you rate these as?

Interested in joining us?

8:30 early? Don't take up duck hunting. Actually it's a negotiated start time. Jeff, my Rubicon buddy wanted a 7 - 7:30 start time while I was pushing for 9 or 10. The route we'll probably take took the two of us a couple of hours to get through, we then added an extra leg for another 30 - 40 minutes. I did have two close calls which would have added time. I'm running 32s and hung up on my diff. Luckily some additional friends were there on bikes to give me a group shove and I was free in a couple of minutes. Second, I bogged down in a mud hole but was able to back out and took the work around. What I have noticed is that the more vehicles the longer a run takes. We're hoping to be home with most of the afternoon left to keep Jeff's wife happy

With respect to ratings, I've never been on a rated trail so while I've read the descriptions I've no practical comparison. My guess is that it starts off green and gets into some blue sections. Not much rock since these were (farm? / stage coach?) roads. Lots of weaving through trees on the go arounds. With the 32s & just over stock height I smack the skids fairly frequently and last time I scrapped the powder coat off one of my sliders for close to its full length. So I'd say, factory steps and mud guards are not a good idea on these trails, but otherwise I don't think there is much chance of doing serious damage. I think I'll be adding a 1"- 2" inch lift by next spring.

I added some more trail pictures on my previous Otis post to give a bit of the flavor of the trail.

Scott

I most likely run all these trails, greens to blues, no harder. These were some of the first trails I ever ran in my X when it was stock.

So where is the Rally Point and what time?

Always interested in wheeling trips. Just need to work out some logistics... will know by tomorrow. I'm not worried about the trail ratings... I run out of skill way before the Jeep runs out of capability  But it's always good to know what to expect.

Michele - you should probably take off those side steps if you still have them.

I noticed the steps were on for the parking lot picture but gone in the action trail shot. Hope it was on purpose.
