So I am in the very early stages of planning a week long wheeling/camping trip to Maine. This thread is mainly to gauge interest, and if there is enough I will turn it into an event for all who would like to attend. Im panning this for August.

The Main goal of the trip is to avoid civilization as much as possible with only stopping in towns for fuel and provisions.

Plans so far:
To start in Rangely and end in Millenocket. In between, check out some cool local/natural features.

Points of Interest:
Allagash Ice Caves (http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/87672-Allagash-Ice-Cave)
Abandoned Locomotives
Gulf Hagas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_Hagas)
B-52 Crash Site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1963_Elephant_Mountain_B-52_crash)
Mt Katahdin (I plan on climbing it)

Obviously as I spend more time planning I will add more info as far as the route, and points of interest.

If this gathers enough interest, I plan on running it like a normal event, with stickers, hats/t shirts etc etc. There will be no event fee to join, as there are going to be access fees for land use in some areas. But if it does garner enough interest and its turned into a full blown event, you will have to pay for stickers, hats/t shirts if you want them.

Two of the proposed event names are:
The Maine Event
The Maine Adventure

So let me know if youre interested.

Did y'all know toothpaste was invented in Maine?

Anywhere else it would be called Teethpaste!!!!

I love Maine! I'm definately interested in this trip! As for names I like the MainE Event.
Or Northern Excursion. (a play on Northern Exposure)

Its definitely going to be the second or third week of August. I have a lot going on with school and work. Plus I need to save and do a bunch to my truck. And im going to be buying a new Mt Bike at the tune of $1200 so it gives me time to get everything done.
