Some of you know I purchased a 2005 Xterra.

My plan is to swap the skids and suspension between the new to me X and my Frontier. Plus some other maintenance things and add on's on the X as well. I don't really need help, it is just more fun with friends.

That being said, weather permitting since it is in my driveway, Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12 I'll be working on the Nissans. My zip is 01028 (just outside of Springfield, MA.) so you have an idea of where. PM me if you are interested and I'll send my address.

My list.

Frontier->Xterra
Coilovers
UCA's
Bump stops
Rear shocks?
Viair and tank?
Intake manifold spacer?
Hypertec?

Xterra->Frontier
Coilovers
UCA'S
Front sway bar
Bump stops

Xterra maintenance/mods
Oil pressure sender
Extended brake lines
Rear brakes
Add-a-leaf
Axle vent mod
Air filter
Cb antenna/cable
Mount hi-lift
Mount shovel
Re-seal diff cover
Remove Garmin

This is way more than I wil be able to complete in a weekend. There will be further mod days I'm sure.

Thanks,
J.

Nice! Hope you can swing by Tony.

Ordered some stuff.
-Oem 7 pin Tow harness
-Oem License plate lenses
-Firestik antenna/cable
-Shovel
-Tow strap
-Snatch strap
-Hitch clevis
-(2) Extra clevis'
-Tire repair kit
-M12-1.25 tap
-Phone holder
-Charging cable
-USB adapter
-AEM dryflow for Volant
-Axle vent fittings/hose/filter
-Rear rotors and pads
-Extended brake lines
-Roof rack clamps for shovel, Hi-Lift, Firestik
-Adjustable shackles
-Axle shims
-Oil pressure sender

For the Frontier
-Rear 5100's (+2-3")

Still need
-33" spare for the Frontier. I'll run the 32's I have for now.
-I'm sure I'll come up with more as I dig into the X.

I have a pair of TJM extended travel coilovers that will go back onto the Frontier. I'm toying with the idea of pulling the body lift also. Initially I was setting the Frontier up for 35's. This plan was stalled because of the expense of regearing. It will not necessarily be moved to the X.

Additionally, the power steering hoses are looking a little suspect. The axle seals at both hubs are shot. This last one will have to wait a month or two, until I have more $$$. At that time I'll change the fluids in the trans, t-case, and diffs.

Congrats on the X, John! Unfortunately, I have commitments both days that weekend.

I have received the majority of my ordered parts.

The adjustable shackles, and extended brake lines for the X, and the 5100's for the Frontier are coming from Nisstec. They are expecting the front brake lines on Monday. I'm assured by Steven that they will be delivered by next weekend. All of the brakes are completed, and the new air filter is installed. This afternoon I'll take care of the pinch weld/melt mod and license plate light housings.

As of this past Thursday it's registered and insured. The license plate lights should be the last thing I need for an inspection sticker. I'll take care of this this afternoon also, or after work sometime this week.

Yesterday I took advantage of a short work day and the nice weather. I was able to pull the Radflos, SPC arms, and skids from the Frontier. Tjm coilovers and stock UCS's went back on, along with the anti-sway bar from the X. The suspension went pretty well. The hardware for the skids was a different story. About 1/3 came off no problem, 1/3 broke off, and I had to grind of the last 1/3. Pretty much the farther back on the truck, the more the hardware resisted. I assumed I would need new hardware for the skids. I'll be able to use the skid bolt washers from FOURTREKS that I won at B2SR.

While I was under the X I noticed that the sliders are mounted using 3 bolts each. Looks like the previous owner had them on for show. I will need to remedy this before the Fools Run.

I'm glad I had the opportunity. Since it won't get out of the 20's this weekend I probably won't have the chance to work on them much.

(On the Frontier) Having pulled the Radflos with 650 pound springs and all the skids, then adding the TJM's with 480 pound springs netted me either no difference in lift, or even a little extra. It's tough to tell, especially since the 33" duratracs and wheel spacers were moved to the X, and 32's were put back on. My perspective is shot. Now I'll have coil bucket contact for the time being, until I buy an additional set of UCA's, or if by some miracle I get a bunch of cash and T-swap the X.

Nisstec received the extended brake lines I was waiting for on Wednesday. They shipped my order the same day. I won't see them till Tuesday. Another setback for this weekend.

Thursday after work I was able to swap the +2-3" 5125's with the radflos in the rear of the Frontier. This completes the items I am scavenging from it for the X.

I had a buddy call me this morning. He offered a spot in his shop for the day. I was able to install the SPC control arms, adjustable shackles, extended brake lines, and Radflos in the X.

I removed the rear sway bar also. I wanted to leave it for in street handling. Unfortunately the end links are too short. The bar rotates up and contacts the rear shocks before full droop. This is with the shackles set to 1". Since I have a definite reverse rake with the rear set to 1", next time I have a chance to work on it, I'll take some of the preload out of the front and raise the rear to 1.5". I can't go too much lower in the front. The cv shaft will start to make contact with the 2.5 coilovers.

Next weekend I should be able to take care of the skids, as long as the hardware from shrock is delivered in time. And the cb cable. I was going to order a new t-case skid, because the Frontier's is longer than the X's. My buddy suggested we modify the one I have to fit. Seems like a good idea to me. This should be all I need to have completed for the Fools Run. There is more on my list, but nothing that will effect its drivability or off road capabilities.

Got a notification today. My new hardware from Shrock will be delivered on Thursday. I should be all set for Saturday. I forgot to mention the axle vent mod is scheduled for Saturday as well. Hopefully the Nissan dealer in Enfield will have my license plate lights in as well. If so, I'll get the X reinspected too.

Spent some more time at my buddy's shop today.

Got all of the skids onto the X. I was able to trim, bend the edges, and weld the Frontier t-case skid to fit the X. If anyone would like to know, the 2nd gen Frontier t-case skid is 8" longer than the 2nd gen X's.

I also ran the CB wire and pulled the cb from the center console. For the time being it will live wedged between the console and the passenger seat.

Hopefully I'll get a little time tomorrow for the axle vent mod and to tune the Firestik. This should cover my 'need to do before the Fools Run' list.

At some point I should change the name of this thread and move it. It has become more of a build/progress thread than a mod days thread.
