So.. this is just a planning day, trying to see if we have the resources to do what I want. Basically I want to build a front bumper out of pipe. There won't be much bending involved with the design I've got in my head but quite a bit of welding. The only real bend will be one V bend basically. I'll but the pipe and the metal and whatnot. For now this is just the planning phase. Just wondering if we will be able to complete this job. I don't have the tools, knowledge or skills to do it myself. Sooooo, I'm reaching out to you all in BKLYN :]

Think we can do this?

…getting a bit ambitious aren’t we? You figure how you’re going to attach it to the frame horns? You going to want a winch sooner or later if you keep wheeling, figure out how to incorporate it into the bumper?
I’m not trying to bring you down or kill a dream but a bumper is a though thing to make right and I’ve seen a number of horrible ones on many Xterras…
If you notice, all your Brooklyn friends have bought theirs....

Wasn't there another fabrication company in PA or NY that also made xterra stuff?

There is hardcore off-road in PA.

http://www.hardcoreoffroadpa.com

They have done some nice steel ones that I have seen and pricing is very good. Not sure about tube but I'm sure they can make it.

It wouldn't be solely tubes tho. Metal plates in the front will be there between the tubes.

I get what you're saying though. I've got more research to do and what not before it's official. I'm not looking to build something that's gunna do hardcore crawling with. I just want something that'll look nice and provide better protection than plastic lol. This was just a feeler to see if we could weld something together if I made the blueprint, did all the research, and got all the supplies.

We ( meaning fj) have tube bumpers and they all have skid plate for the radiators and lines. They are sturdy and I've seen some take a beating

It can be done but do your research or buy one premade

I would recommend buying one as well,
by the time you price it out and get it done it will be equal to or more than just buying one.
2nd gens should be out there for sale.

RLC in Kentucky makes a nice Xterra bumper for a decent price. That's what mine is. And the owner James is real easy to work with (any custom cuts or ideas you have)
