Didn't think about the stock rear bumper issue.....Glad i got a schrock

If there is a need for a truck still i could always drop it off in Brooklyn in the morning and come back after the christening. You know just an offer....j/k it'd be wrong to leave my truck and let you guys install a bodylift (but i'd do it if you wanted)

For those of you who have installed your 2nd Gen BL, did anyone replace the OEM bumper with a Shrock? If Rook was able to modify a bumper from a donated OEM bumper to accomodate his recovery points he could have one less thing to worry about from the BL.

well...i'm not going to do the BL if I have to give up my recovery....it sound silly but I'd rather have my rear recovery than a BL and do not have the coin to buy a new rear bumper right now :(

Stop buying all those LEDs and HIDs and you would have a rear bumper by now. Haha
Dang Rookies

Better to have rear recovery.
Just let us know when you are ready Rook and we'll lend a hand.

The rear bumper is attached to the frame, so you don't have to give up your rear recovery points. The only thing that will happen with the body lift is that you will have a 2" space between the body and the bumper.

On the first gens, you can redrill the bumper to make it match and prevent the gap. I had mine that way for 2 years. I don't see why you couldn't do the same with the second gens. At worst, you have a ghetto gap.

Looking at the picture again, all you have to do is cut out those plastic side panels and it would all be fine. Put some black plastic cove molding in the space and it would look stock.

So Rook are we lifting your truck on April 18th or not?
Please tell me yes or no ASAP so if we are not I can offer it to someone else.

oh boy...i just don't wanna lose my rear recovery..and I need to call up KMA to get a 2inch BL bracket for my new bumper. If they can ship it in time and get it to me in the next 18 days. I am in. I will know tomorrow morning 100%

but if those two conditions can be met I am in 100% for a BL. And thanks again everyone!

i just talked to someone who did it on a 2nd gen and kept the stock bumper. They just redrilled holes and it worked...I'll just have ghetto big holes cut out of my rear bumper for rear recovery...thats all...

ok so just spoke with Kyle at KMA...he said the easiest way to do the BL is to re-drill/weld the bumper to the supplied mounting brackets. I do not have a welder but can weld it at home (borrow neighbors) He said we can prob use two of the existing holes on each side of the bracket...either way...front and rear bumper will be some work to get to jive with the BL....so i think I will pass on the BL right now. after MOAB i will think about it again....and if the offer is there again I will accept it. Thanks again guys! and sorry this had to fall through...it's too much of a PITA right now and I cannot justify all of the extra work and $$ right before moab. I really appreciate the offer tho! :)
