It was a really good challenge with a few different lines but doable open/open. I got lucky and found good line on the first attempt and got up with a little wheel spin.

Then I played it off like I that's how I thought it was gonna go .

I hope everyone had a great time! On behalf of the NEXTerra Officers, Events Committee Members (including Ernie, David and Justin that were in attendance) and NEXTerra Supporting Membership I want to thank all of you for taking part.

Special thanks to Jeff and Justin for leading, Ernie and David for their hospitality.

I had a great time. Ernie let me stay in his RV at Rausch, very plush and convenient. Thanks again Ernie.

The “Black Group” met up with a great guy named Bill with an awesome built Jeep. He knew the park very well and ended up leading us through a bunch of Blacks and a few Reds he figured I could do (I was definitely low man as far as skill and vehicle build).

We ran a few Blacks behind the Comp Course. "5" including a section that I had previously blown out a side window without issue. Very cool.

Joe’s rear driveshaft’s CV blew up on the Red hill climb in “Cemetery” and had to be pulled off the trail. We got him back to the parking lot, then he jumped in with Ernie and we went over to the Northeast.

I stupidly backed into a tree I had just past and blew out yet another tailgate back window on a Black hill climb on the Northeast. Then almost flipped the truck on a crazy hill climb within the Red section of “F*”. Yikes.

Bill had to leave after that (probably wanting to avoid recovering my dumb ass later in the day).

I had told Ernie about the new “Crawling for Cops” trail I had run at the “Shocker” last month, so he wanted to run it. We went there were Ernie almost flipped running a tough line up a climb I hadn’t done the last time. I did the climb but on the easier line so was up ahead and missed the action.
We ran “22” and then called it a day.

We covered a lot of ground for running the type of trails we ran; it was pretty intense. I did not take many pictures, but I looked at my dashcam recording and there are a couple of spots I might be able to get something from. I posted my near roll on my Instagram.
Bill, Ernie and Joe’s reactions make it worth a view; https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw2h1nkBHd6/

Drove back to Brooklyn Sunday morning without issue, back glass got replaced today.
Man I love my truck.

Oh man. Didn't know you busted another glass. Time to address the bracing on the tire carrier?

And Tom, is Bill on here? Or Instagram? His rig was sweet.

I doubt any kind of bracing would help short of an exo-cage that I’m not really ready to undertake. Justin was talking about that and IMHO bracing it to the sheet metal of the roof or the roof rack (attached to the sheet metal roof) would just cause more damage.
I think I need to get the spare and hi-lift off the back of the truck and inside.
Maybe get a bumper that will give me a better departure angle and that can take a hit. My current Shrockworks bumper, although good, is really made for overlanding, blue trails and mall crawling not blacks and reds.
The truth is my back window problems are all a result of the loose nut behind the steering wheel that, at this point, I’m unable to repair...

We just met Bill the morning of the run. He is a local who was there alone. He had asked a group of FJ’s if he could run with them and they said no (assholes).
He asked us and I said “if you sign the waiver you are welcome”.
He’s not on any board or Instagram I know of but I got his number and will ask.
Running trails with him, Ernie and Joe was one of the most challenging, intense, fun, nerve wracking days at Rausch I’ve ever had. I had a headache at the end of the day.
I was behind Bill and his Jeep on the trail. The combination of his expertise and the build of that Jeep was a joy to behold.
I couldn’t follow his lines because he mostly took the harder one, at times I had to let him get ahead a bit so he didn’t f@ck me up.
You know what I mean from leading, you can’t just follow someone’s line, you have to travel your own.
I’ll ask him to join the board if he wants and if he has his build posted somewhere.
I don’t want harass him though

Tom, I was wondering, did you call the same glass company?

I was mowing my lawn today, imagining me standing with the phone in my hand having a dialogue with myself about calling the same company or another.

I talk to an insurance rep who transfers me to the glass company. None of them give a crap about me one way or the other
