It is no big deal. It is nice to have though if you need a spot or help. Sometimes the trail leaders get jaded and don't remember how scary it can be the first time out (guilty  ). If a first timer has a CB, I am more likely to let them know about some upcoming area. If it is really rough, I will still get out of my truck and let them know.

I have been in groups that talk on the CB all day long and I have been in other groups that don't say a word....

If you feel uncomfortable without one look for me in the morning and I'll lend you a hand-held.
I personally hate when folks jabber on them all day long about nothing. I end up turning it off.
If you're in a group with me please keep the talk down to the minimum thank you.

Looks like we will have some snow for both runs.
PA 8-12 inches and GG may get 12-18 inches :woohoo:
hopefully there will be some left out there for the runs
getting amped up

I'm a bit nervous about heading to RC this weekend. It would be my first time wheeling in Snow/ice(ice possible?). Especially since i have to get my sliders delivered and installed on Friday, and I have mostly street A/T tires that blow...My buddy, which I have always gone wheeling with, recommend I not go. I invited him to come and he turned it down, he has an XJ w/lockers and 37s.

how bad does the snow/ice get there?

It can get pretty hairy in the winter. Last year I had to take some guys to the parking lot because the they didn't want to beat up their trucks any more. I tore off parts of my front bumper. That was on a green trial. If you had decent tires, I would say it shouldn't be too bad but with the ice and fresh snow it might be a problem.

Get your sliders on either way... those come in useful in any weather. You could always get it a shot & if too hairy, park the truck & ride with someone else.

I am out for R.C. on Sunday. I wasn't able to get the cross member in time, which means I can't put my engine skid back on, which means no wheeling. I am pissed, especially since R.C. is coated in a fresh coat of dry snow... Boo-urns!

thanks for the offer on the hand-held.

Unfortunately I am going to have to bail on this run. I am a bit nervous about the conditions considering I am a noob and I have a family member who has been in the hospital for a couple months and she has made an amazing turnaround this week and is doing a lot better so I really want to make it there to see her.

Thats cool santims. Keith is right, the average mud puddle can become a major obstacle. Chunks of ice get pushed to the ends and freeze into an iceberg. Makes it tough to get through them.

Ice chunks are also hard on ABS lines and other wires under the rig.

Hope you can make it to a warm weather run.
