I have no real timeline. He is busy at work, planning his wedding and working on Dragline. I understood this was a ‘nights and weekends as he has time’ project.

From speaking with him over tithe last few months, it sounds like he is expanding what Dragline will offer. Installation of mods, repairs, additional fuse panels and wiring for accessories and fab work. I’m sure there is more that I cannot remember. He’s been doing a lot of work on Will (Ripper’s) new rig too. Curtis (Ricel) and Tyler (XterraMayo) are teaming up. They have a shop space they are renting. He said that best case scenario, eventually this becomes their ‘real job’.

I had some time yesterday to swap in the lower mileage OEM fan clutch I purchased from a Clubfrontier member. One of the clutch to pulley nuts was seized and stripped. After working at it for an hour or two with PB Laster, a MAPP torch (carefully with both, because of the belt) and a couple sets of vicegrips, I was able to free the stuck nut. Thankfully the nuts are threaded onto removable studs. The nut never came off the stud. The stud unthreaded from the water pump (maybe?). Also thankfully, the local hardware store had the 6x1.00 threaded automotive stud.

It took me about 3 hours for this project. The seized nut and being unable to completely remove the fan shroud made it slow going. I was unwilling to pull the upper radiator hose to completely remove the shroud. Once disconnected from the radiator, I was able to push it back to the engine far enough to get my arms in to do the job.

The X threw another P0420 on the way to work on Friday.

The new fan clutch didn’t stop the startup whine I have been getting in the cold weather. I’m going to look into getting new idler and tensioner pulleys. Since I’m going that far, I’ll change the belt while I’m at it. There is nothing apparently wrong with this belt, so I’ll keep it for a spare.

Also, two weekends ago I caught a rock next to the driver windshield wiper. It quickly cracked and traveled completely across the window. I have an appointment with Safelite to swap it on Tuesday.

Damn that sucks about the Glass
Mass has full glass coverage though, right??

At one time that was the rule. Now that insurance is deregulated in MA. some companies are putting a deductible on glass. So it seems like you are getting good insurance cheap. Safelite is in contact with Commerce. Commerce is being slow to respond to them about my coverage. I called today. If they don’t get back before my appointment tomorrow, I’ll need to reschedule. I refuse to pay the bill and be reimbursed.

I also just remembered that when I was under the X reattaching the fan shroud I noticed I have a tear in the inner CV boot on the driver side. I have a couple trail spares. Once I have a minute I’ll swap them out, till I can get new boot kits. The other 3 look like they’re on their last legs as well.

It turns out my glass deductible is $0 after all. My appointment went off without a hitch. I wasn’t even around. He finished before I got home from work. New windshield, new rain-x latitude wipers for the X and my wife’s Focus. Come to find out, you can’t just put any wiper on the back of the X. I’ll need to look into that more.

Rather than ordering new CV boots, I bought 3 complete Titan length CV axles from a guy Will (Ripper) set me up with. Turns out it’s TomsRedX. I also ordered a idler/tensioner/belt kit from Rockauto. I also ordered the U-bolt flip kit and a pair of 2” wheel spacers from Nisstec.

The last piece of the puzzle is Phong’s dead X. It has Titan LCA’s, tie rods, and brake lines. I have stock Titan UCA’s for the time being, until I save more $$$ for the Titan SPC’s. Transport is all set. I just need the wife to get onboard with another X in the driveway for a couple weeks.

I’d like to think so. I’m imagining it should be set by the end of April.

So this morning I bought an R180 Lokka too.

TomaRedX, who I bought the Titan length CV’s from, is swapping his ARB R180 with an M205. He sold his R180 to jr_ss on TheNewX. jr_ss has a new in box Lokka he no longer needed.

Lucky me.

There is a lot on the cusp of happening with my X.

It looks like Phong’s X is a go. My wife surrendered to me having a parts vehicle in the driveway for a few weeks. We just need to figure out when Phong and I are both available for the pick up.

Curtis plans on being finished with the tire carrier bumper next weekend.

Ernie will be carrying 3 Titan length CV’s and a Lokka back from the Fools Run at AOAA.

If anyone needs any random parts from a 2007 Knight Armor Xterra, let me know. I’ll start a separate thread once I have possession.

Might need the temp/fan controls, John, as long as they match my 06. One of the lights behind mine no longer works.
