How long do you think it will take you to make it?

I'm estimating it'll be done in three weeks' worth of free time. Once I have all my major components (just missing the hinge and the primary tube) the meat of it will be done in a day, the rest is just running wiring for all my crazy ideas, finishing, and painting/powder coating.

You have access to a powder coating machine, too?

I wish. But I got a guy in Somerville who's cut my shop deals before. Just gotta see if it's in the Obstacle Protection Fund after I get my tires.

Due to significant shipping delays on some key components, I haven't made a lot of progress. I have basically only radiused the swing arm with a hole saw:

Hinge should finally be in tomorrow so I can get that tacked on, then the primary tube will be arrive by Monday. Expecting to get it all tacked, fitted, and welded by this time next week.

And if you're wondering why I drilled where I did...this is why we measure twice :)

Main tube welded:

And capped:

Swing arm and hinge welded on:

And that's as far as I got today (didn't have the energy to test-fit). Next step is to clean up, drill a bunch of holes to run wiring, install latches, and paint.

I may wait to fit the arm assembly until I actually have 33s.

I don't think I've ever seen a pic of an X with the bumper removed and hatch down, so here you go:

And now I am quite broke.

Tire carrier continues to progress, no recent pics. Just working on getting all the major components assembled, I'll do the fancy electronics another time. Should be painted by the end of the week.

Getting some EBC brake pads this week, if they fix my squeal then I will be ready to wheel on Sunday if I can swing it.

New tires! They look good! What size did you go with?

285/70/17. I filled my tank and reset my trip computer on the drive home from Dedham and my mileage doesn't seem to have changed much (though I did a lot of downhill coasting).

Only looks the way it does now because my parking lot is the complete opposite of level (and in fact has a sizable sinkhole under it). On level ground I still have stock rake proportions (with an OME lift). If anything, I want to hike the back up even more.

Inching closer to done:

Coating with VHT All Weather Epoxy paint, thinking about bedlining over it. Should have the main portion installed this weekend, swing arm itself still needs some work.

God, so close I can almost taste it. Wish it were ready for wheeling tomorrow so I could put it through its paces, but I only have so much time to give...
