So I just got back from "vacation" and this is what I end up doing...

Sandblasted the rust off the bumper, used filler and primed, then painted the bumper

Sandblasted rear axle and shakles, painted and undercoat applied.

Looks great.
How did you "sandblast" the rear axle and shakles? Did you take them off the truck?

I don't remember what the axle looked like before, but the bumper looks much better now!

I can fit under the xterra perfectly sitting up so I was able to crawl under with the hose and do rust clean up. Just did it in the driveway.

The entire axle had surface rust, just minor and came off quick and easy.

What I have been up to lately... My goal is to get the xterra ready to wheel again for B2SR... I do as much as I can on my one day off a week... all new wheel bearings in the front, had my upper control arms blasted, added a coat of POR 15 and started tackling all the rust on the rest of the X (FYI this is taking FOREVER), cleaning it up and painting with POR 15. Also got new shocks arriving Monday

I am originally from the two towns over and you have to go through it to get to Solon... Madison (yup I am a small town girl) Have fun time up there! Have a Steve's Snacks Whoopie Pie, my favorite! Can find them at any gas station or grocery store. And don't forget Giffords Ice Cream in Skowhegan! :D
