I've been speaking with the guy who's doing my sas about other, repeatable, products that he might be willing to do for us.

If there's enough interest, he's willing to look at building an internal roll cage for our trucks that will protect the front seats (driver and front passenger)..

He'll be able to use my truck as a template and I'd have to find a 2nd gen for him to look at if there is enough interest, but I told him that I'd ask this group to see if there is enough of a need to make it a viable effort.

Let me know.

How would it tie into the frame?
4 point, 6point?
Would the back seats still be useable?
What type and size of steel tube?
Would he need the truck or would it be a kit, shipped in pieces (how many)?
Estimated price?
There are more but I can?t think of them at the moment.
Let?s start with those.

Would it look kinda like this?

I was looking into having my fabricator build one for me a while ago.
$$$$ to do it properly (DOM tube bent properly)
For low speed rolls while rockcrawling, moly tubing isn't really necessary.

I'm interested depending on cost, and all of Tom's questions. :)

Any info on your tranny crossmember?
I'm looking for an alternative to the Blue company's one. :D

We're only just talking about it to see if there's enough interest to go to the next step. But, as it looks like there may be, I'll start getting the details.

And yes, on the cross member, it's looking good. He's working up the details to see what the price would be.

Hmm i might be interested but all depends on price and design...

Design is my main concern is that i will use the truck for another year before i get another daily driver...

For me, I'm not sure it's expense that I want to make, although I would like to build one someday for the fun of it.

After seeing several Xterras roll, although not in person, the top of the truck is pretty sturdy, even in highway crashes...which will put on a whole lot more stress than what we are doing on the trails.

IMHO if you rolled this thing on the trails, even several times, the roof crashing in would be the lease of your worries. I would be more concerned with getting hit with all the crap that is in my truck.

My opinion is a internal roll cage is just a waste of space. If you want a roll cage do a external one. That way you can scrap up against trees and other things....plus if rolling is a big thing for you....it will help protect the body from getting as banged up.

if you wheel hard enough to warrant a roll cage, you probably don't give a crap about body damage anyway :)

I think that I'd rather an exo cage, but if he needs a 2nd gen for measurements, etc, mine isn't a daily driver so I could probably spare it for a week or so depending on when.

External roll cage, I'd be more then interested.
Internal - not so much...

If exo's are preferred, I can work with Gregg on looking for a standard, repeatable build guide that can be used for creating an EXO that can then be taken to a welder to have the install complete.
