Ok I need everyones help on this. I just went and had the mud tires re-balanced and was told some bad news. All four wheels are wharped. I already know how it happened, got an alignment and rotation last fall and I have a feeling the genius' used an air gun to put the tires back on.

So anyway to my question. I am going to have to get new wheels, what does everyone prefer, steel or aluminium? I am running steel rock crawlers right now and I really love the ones I have, but am considering aluminium so I dont have to go through this again...

Stock aluminum rims. They fit better than anything out there and I have beat the hell out of mine. Other than cosmetic damage, I've never had a failure.

On the plus side, you can usually get them cheap.

If they don't have enough cool factor, paint to your hearts content.

I'm running 15X8 Cragar soft 8's with a 4.75" backspacing with no problems and paid around $36 per wheel.. ;)

I agree with scott. I have my stock 16" aluminum rims with 33" mastercraft mud terrains on them and they work great and when they get a chunk taken out of them from a rock i just need to get them re-balanced (like 2 weeks ago)... :D
Though the one thing with the stock rims you dont get the really wide wheels that stick out the side of your truck but in doing this you do not get any rubbing so there is tradoffs in each...

You could also take a look at Rocky Road's custom backspacing wheels. Without going to confirm the rim BS, I believe it is 5.25 to 5.5 inches of backspacing.

Yeah I am looking at to getting these sometime..... I like the D style wheel they have and is about 40 bucks through sumitt. Can't really beat that price. Now I just have to figure out what I am going to do with the wheels that I already have. :?
